Know what's just as cool as a sunset hike? A sunrise hike. 🌅 Know what's not as cool? Overestimating the trail and reaching the top an hour before sunrise and freezing your ass off waiting for it. 😂 Well, whereisjadaa and I did exactly that. Shoutout out to her for currently being on a ten-day 93-mile backpacking trip in Washington! Thankfully she brought enough warm clothes on her trip, because on this day she certainly did not, and sadly couldn't wait long enough to get an epic photo with me. I don't blame her, because if you look at the third photo, that's the view on the way up, which we were seeing for most of our morning, and it was incredibly windy and nearly freezing. The video on the fourth slide is a time-lapse of the sunrise from on a tripod, and the shakiness is a testament to how windy it was! Thankfully I brought just enough layers to stay for the peak colors of the sunrise, and some sick shades to shield my eyes from it! I never found my other shades I lost on the trail, but toregeeyewear hooked it up with TWO pairs, and offered to be my newest sponsor! Seriously stoked on these! They look rad, they're durable, they have interchangeable lenses, come in a ton of colors, they're in a hard case, AND they're less than $40! That's important for someone like me who is prone to losing or breaking things while being extreme. 🤘 • • • #hiking #trailrunning #trekking #montana #bozeman #bozemanmontana #explore #exploremontana #getoutside #torege #toregeeyewear #sunglasses #selfie #sunrise #mountains #drinkinghorse #gallatincounty #nature #trees #portrait #travel #naturephotography #portraitphotography #travelphotography #naturelovers #cotopaxi #view #views #nightshot #fitness

RANDOM THOUGHTS ABOUT TODAY'S CENTURY RIDE ➡️ Once I got to 5️⃣0️⃣ it was like, ugh I have to do that again 😵‍💫 The first 5️⃣0️⃣ miles flew by but 5️⃣0️⃣ more seemed like forever. BUT once I hit 6️⃣0️⃣ I was like, whoa I only have 4️⃣0️⃣ left 🤣 I originally planned to switch directions every 10 or 20mi but I got in a good rhythm. I also tried counting laps to see how many I would be doing... I lost track at 7 or 8 🤣 The lake is roughly 1.1-1.2mi around so I did around 8️⃣5️⃣ laps💀 Let me back up 👇 I wrote a CENTURY RIDE down as one of my 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣ goals, but once I realized my quads were taking over when race season started, I stopped biking as much. And then with races from May through now I was running out of time. LUCKILY we have ☀️ summer weather back today so this was my last chance. I've done all my rides on the bike path BUT I biked unsupported and I wasn't comfortable biking 5️⃣0️⃣mi in one direction away from home. I also wanted to avoid biking into the wind for 5️⃣0️⃣mi so I decided to bike around a lake that is in the middle of town. I never bike in town because of traffic and bumps in the road but this worked out really well. And I drove to the lake instead of starting from home so I had extra things in my car if needed. I also started as early as possible to try and avoid the higher winds in the afternoon... Half way through I was just seconds over 3️⃣hrs. I knew it would be difficult with the increasing wind. When I got to 7️⃣5️⃣mi, I hadn't even hit 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣mi and I was already thinking what more I could do to push it a little more 🤣 Ironman distance sounded like too much. With 🔟mi to go I ended up switching direction. I had 6️⃣hrs in the back of my mind even though my main goal was to just finish, but the wind was making it very difficult. When I realized I would hit 1️⃣0️⃣0️⃣mi under 6️⃣hrs I opted to ride for a little longer to 6️⃣hrs. I always have to GO ONE MORE in everything I do. It's a competition against myself and a way to push my mental strength 🙌🔥

My first 50k was one I’ll never forget! . To be completely transparent, I didn’t exactly train for this race.😬 I kind of shoved it into the end of my race season to see if ultras were something I’d enjoy. . First 15+ mile loop felt incredible! By mile 18 or so (around 4 hours in) I was hurting and knew it was going to be a mental battle until the end. One guy on course called me the “energizer bunny” because I wouldn’t stop moving. I knew if I stopped I would be in a dangerous place. I also knew I was going to win, which may not have benefitted me mentally knowing that. There were only 3 females at the start and one ended up dropping out. I knew I was far enough in the lead to win, so I didn’t have any drive to push harder than I was going. I did find enjoyment in passing as many of the other men as I could🤣. . I felt a rollercoaster of emotions through the whole 7 hours I was running, but I mostly felt gratitude. Gratitude for my body and it’s ability to adapt in challenging situations. Gratitude for my mind to overcome the physical pain I felt and keep moving. Toward the end I thought about how much I’ve overcome and lots of tears were shed during that part. I was once an insecure substance abuser that didn’t respect myself and now I’m out here running an ultramarathon feeling more alive than ever. . I needed to wait a couple days to reflect on this experience to decide whether or not I’d ever do this again. 100% yes. Sign me up. I want more. I want the ache in my hamstrings, the burn of my lungs, the tears streaming down my face. All the things that make me feel human. . If you ever have a crazy idea that sounds impossible, I can promise you that it’s not. Live for the wild dreams and don’t settle for anything that doesn’t make you feel alive.

Exercising outdoors is like recess… it is freeing and full of good feels. Take advantage of those good feels by getting out and hitting the trails this week. Hiking not only nourishes your body with a diversity of movement for legs, feet and ankles but it also nourishes just by being out in nature which benefits the mind and spirit also. It’s all about moving well, building confidence, and working toward being the best version of yourself. 💚 Happy Motivation Monday! #riseandgrind #trailtherapy #hikinglife #mountainmonday #naturelovers #stayfit #healthandwellness #hikingguide #views #adventureawaits #fitnessmotivation #neverstopexploring #mountains #hikeit #optoutside #inspiredbynature #womenchasingwanderlust #fitness #bigbearlake #hikingcalifornia #socalhiker

I CAN DO HARD THINGS. 💪👊🏅After running for 11 hours 47 minutes and 37 seconds, covering 50 miles with 9,000 feet of vertical gain, all with a cranky hip, I made the cutoff for an official finish by 12 minutes and 23 seconds. I’m humbled, tired, and a wee bit sore, but very happy. . . . . . . #vermont50
